TABARCA

We are talking about the only inhabited island of the whole Valencian Community and of course of the Costa Blanca. It is located in the sea in front of Santa Pola, only 3 miles from Cabo de Santa Pola. We could say that it is a small archipelago formed by several islets (La Cantera, La Nao and La Galera), with a length of about 1750m.

Its exact location is (38º 10' N, 000º 28' W) and from the same city of Santa Pola, several boats depart all year round towards the islet.

It is a unique place with an incredible historical relevance. Famous pirate site that built a fortification to defend itself from these attackers and was populated by Tunisian inhabitants. From the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, there are still several constructions such as the walls, several access gates to the island, the church and the lighthouse.

In the natural environment it is the first marine reserve of all Spain, an authentic paradise of clear waters and a wonderful flora and fauna, ideal to practice the diving or to sail. It has an uneven relief with several cliffs, coves and various singing beaches.

What to do in Tabarca?

First we must anchor the boat and the best place to do so is on the main beach of Tabarca. Where the seabed is up to 11 meters deep and the waters are naturally protected from the winds.
