Some advice for your security on Spanish motorways

The car parks in Service Areas are not under surveillance. Do not leave any objects of value within sight in your vehicle.

If strangers approach you indicating that you have a problem with your vehicle do not stop your car. It is preferable to continue your journey and to stop at a busy place where there is no risk of falling prey to strangers.

If you have a breakdown while on the road, and another vehicle stops to help you, don't be too trusting. Lock the doors and ask for help.

In either of these two cases, take note of the registration number, make, colour and position of the suspicious vehicle, and use the SOS posts or your mobile telephone to inform the 24 hour Permanent Attendance Service of AUMAR, Tel. 96 434 11 38 (Tarragona-Valencia) or  96 589 16 32 (Valencia-Alicante), or the Guardia Civil on 062.
